Last night as The Municipal Band of Charlottesville played their final summer concert at the Paramont Theater the last two numbers honors the Flag of the United States with America the Beautiful and Stars and Stripes. The 70 or so volunteers of the band, which was organized in 1922, had years of participation ranging from 2 weeks to 57 years with me personally having been in the band for 48 years.
The video shows the flag tribute while the band plays America the Beautiful and Stars and Stripes.

Friday after 5 was perfect yesterday…temperatures nice and humidity down..good music was provided by Jacabone (Formely Blues Farm) and Indecision. The first picture is of Jacabone. The second picture is of Indecision a local band with good following. The music was great from 5:30 until about 8:30, the crowd was excellent and seemed everyone was enjoying themselves. The vendors of FA5 offer the most tasty donuts(surprising good with beer), Kettle popcorn which is has a very nice sweet taste to it. Surpringly, the lead singer and harmonica player of Jacabone, one of the owners of the Kettle popcorn are former students of mine way back yander when we all were much younger. So neat to see former students being artistic and productive.
If you are new to Charlottesville and want to meet the locals this is the place to do it. The event is free to the public and happens every Friday from April to September. It is also very family friendly so bring your blankets, enjoy your family, friends and music at the Charlottesville Pavilion on the eastern end of the downtown mall. Next week 8/06 is Red Shanty Rounders opening at 5:30 and Sarah White and the Pearls the featured act.
